Orange Sport Spotlight - April 16

Six Syracuse teams competed during the week of April 9-16. The Orange earned spots in conference championships in women's lacrosse and track & field, won trophies on the water and earned victories on the lacrosse field, softball diamond and track.
Women's Lacrosse (8-4, 3-1 BIG EAST)
The Orange won a pair of games last week and clinched a spot in the BIG EAST Championship, which will be held at the Carrier Dome on April 27 and 29. Against Colgate, the Orange won the program's 100th all-time victory. Junior Bridget Looney set a school record with eight caused turnovers. Against Rutgers on Friday, sophomore Katie Rowan tied school records with 10 points and seven goals and became the ninth player in school history to post 100 career points.

The men's crew team won its opening race of the season, defending the Ten Eyck Cup with a victory against Rutgers.

Women's Rowing
The women's rowing team competed at the Charles River Classic this past weekend. The Orange went 1-5 but reclaimed the Kittell Cup by defeating Boston University.

Softball (15-26, 5-7 BIG EAST)
The Orange softball team went 1-2 during last week's action. Syracuse defeated Buffalo on Wednesday and lost a doubleheader to Louisville on Saturday. Three games last week were postponed due to weather plus SU's two games against Cornell on Tuesday.

The Orange competed at the John Jacobs Invitational in Norman, Okla. and the Carolina Fast Times in Chapel Hill, N.C. during the weekend. Senior Aulton Kohn (200m dash) and junior Jillian Drouin (high jump) qualified for the NCAA Regional.
