
Flynn, Greene To Play In Nike Hoop Summit April 7

Incoming Syracuse freshmen Jonny Flynn (Niagara Falls H.S./Niagara Falls) and Donte' Greene (Towson Catholic H.S./Baltimore, MD) will both suit up for Team USA in the 2007 Nike Hoop Summit in Memphis, Tenn., on April 7, at 4:00 p.m. The 10th annual affair will be contested at the FedExForum and televised by Fox Sports.
Pat Fitterer (Eisenhower H.S./Yakima, Wash.) will serve as the team's head coach and will be assisted by Douglas Mitchell (North Central H.S./Indianapolis, Ind.).
Others named to the 2007 USA Basketball Men's Junior National Select Team were Jerryd Bayless (St. Mary's H.S./Phoenix, Az.); Michael Beasley (Notre Dame Prep/Frederick, Md.); Kevin Love (Lake Oswego H.S./Lake Oswego, Ore.); O.J. Mayo (Huntington H.S./ Huntington, W.Va.); Patrick Patterson (Huntington H.S./ Huntington, W.Va.); Derrick Rose (Simeon Career Academy/ Chicago, Ill.); Kyle Singler (South Medford H.S./Medford, Ore.); and Nolan Smith (Oak Hill Academy, Va./Upper Marlboro, Md.). The coach and player selections were made by the USA Basketball Men's Junior Development Committee.
Flynn and Greene were teammates in last week's McDonald's All-America game in Louisville. Flynn had nine points and a game-high six assists while Greene finished with 10 points and two rebounds. Both were named Parade All-Americans -- Flynn on the second team and Greene on the first.
Flynn was recently named player of the year by the Buffalo News and Niagara Falls Gazette. He averaged 26.7 points, 6.0 assists, 3.5 steals and 3.3 rebounds as a senior. Flynn completed his scholastic career with 1,735 points.
Greene helped Towson Catholic to a 32-5 record and the MIAA Class A and Baltimore Catholic League titles. He averaged 18.3 points, 7.2 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 2.5 blocks, and 2.1 steals this past winter. He was named All-Metro First Team by the Baltimore Sun.
