John Wallace's three-pointer against Georgia in the 1996 NCAA Tournament has been ranked third among the 10 greatest three-pointers in NCAA Tournament history by Rivals.com. Wallace's historic shot came on Syracuse's climb to the 2006 NCAA title game.
In the Georgia encounter played in Denver, the Orange had forced overtime when Jason Cipolla connected on a jumper at the end of regulation to force the extra session. SU trailed the Bulldogs in overtime, 81-80, when the ball was inbounded to Wallace. He dribbled his way upcourt and converted the three-pointer with 2.8 seconds remaining. Syracuse held on for the 83-81 triumph.

- Valparaiso's Bryce Drew scored at the buzzer in 1998 to give the Crusaders the first NCAA victory in program history. Valpo shocked Mississippi, 70-69.

- Wallace keeps Syracuse's 1996 national title hopes alive with a buzzer beater against Georgia in the Sweet 16.
- Illinois overcame a 15-point deficit in 2005 and defeated Arizona 90-89 in overtime, thanks in part to a three-ball from Deron Williams in the final minute of regulation.
- Georgia Tech's James Forest hit his first three pointer of the 1991-92 season as the buzzer sounded to give the Yellow Jackets a 79-78 victory against USC.
- John Lucas III nailed a three with 6.9 seconds left to put Oklahoma State past St. Joseph's, 64-62, and in the 2004 Final Four.
- Kentucky's Patrick Sparks forced overtime with his three-pointer against Michigan State. His shot hit the rim four times before falling through and had to be reviewed for five minutes. The Spartans prevailed, 94-88, in overtime.
- Vanderbilt's Barry Goheen hit two threes in the final minute of regulation, the second at the buzzer, and helped his team upset Pittsburgh in 1988, 80-74, in overtime.
- Ron Lewis from Ohio State forced overtime with a three-ball and the Buckeyes escaped their 2007 encounter with Xavier, 78-71 in overtime.
- Maryland's Drew Nicholas canned a three-pointer off a one-legged jump to help the Terps erase the upset hopes of North Carolina-Wilmington, 75-73, in 2003.
