Orange Tennis Camps Information
Syracuse University tennis coaches Luke Jensen and Shelley George are hosting their first tennis camps at Syracuse University this summer. There are three different Orange Tennis Camps in June and July for children ages 9-18 to take part in. Learn to play tennis in a fun, positive, and professional environment from Syracuse Orange coaches.
Camps will be held from June 25-29, July 2-6, and July 9-13. There will also be an Orange Tennis Camp Party held on July 9, where all camp participants will join together for an evening of games and fun. Camp activities will be held at the Skytop Tennis Courts and Drumlins Tennis Center in Syracuse.
Sessions I and III cost $250 per participant. Session II costs $200 since there will be no camp held on July 2. Campers need only a tennis racket, shoes, and a smile. If they do not have a tennis racket, one will be provided for them for use during the camp. Camps run daily from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. The morning consists of on-court activities and drills, and the afternoons are filled with matches and games.
Besides being the head tennis coach at Syracuse, Jensen is a tennis analyst for ESPN and played professional tennis for 17 years. He won 10 ATP doubles titles, including the 1993 Fench Open doubles crown. He has played against some of the best competition in the world, including John McEnroe, Jimmy Connors, Boris Becker, Andre Agassi and Pete Sampras. He has also served as a tennis instructor at various camps and clinics throughout the world.
George has more than 25 years of experience as a player, coach and administrator. She was the head coach at City High School in Iowa City for 20 years and won numerous coach of the year awards during her tenure. She has been involved with the tennis program at the University of Iowa and has been haveily involved in the USTA. She played collegiately at Iowa and St. Ambrose College.
