Final postcard from Wimby 07
Hey Cuse Fans, Wimby 2007 is in the history books and Roger Federer and Venus Williams pick up more hardware from the All England Club.
Roger Federer ties Bjorn Borg as the only other player in the open era to win five straight gold trophies. It was not easy beating world #2. Rafa Nadal in five sets. I felt Rafa played a great match coming up with amazing passing shot after passing shot. His speed around the court just shines while out dueling Federer from the backcourt. But with two chances early in the fifth having 15-40 on Federer's first two service games and letting them slip by was all Federer needed to find key forehands deep down the line to break Nadal in the sixth game of the fifth set and win number five in front of Bjorn Borg in the royal box.
This thriller will go down in history as only the second time in men's tennis where the same finalists from the French and Wimbledon met in consecutive years. The first time was 71 years ago between Fred Perry and Gottfried von Cramm, also the #1 and #2 players in the world at the time.
The major state of the match was the serve. Federer had 24 aces to only one from Nadal. The serve is the biggest shot in the game and it also showed on the ladies side of the draw where #23 seed Venus Williams won her fourth Wimbledon. This win ties BJ King and only behind Martina Navratilova and Steffi Graf as most titles in the Open era.
I do want to note that King won two before 1968 when the game became open to pros that year. Venus served large the entire tournament hitting ace after ace and serving in the 120 mph all tournament long.
I will remember the rain and the history being made not to mention wearing my Orange bandana during my matches in the 35 and over tournament!!!!!

An Orange Card from Wimbledon!
Week one is over and the main story outside of the tennis has been the rain. It has rained five out of six days here at Wimbledon.
I am so fired up to be here at the most important event in our tennis year. This is tennis in every way. The players feel the pressure here because of the history on every court. I can tell you about massive victories and massive choke jobs from Centre Court to court 19. If you are a sports fan, you must make this a must see in your life's travels.
As far as the players Roger Federer is still a beast here. He has won four in a row and trying to tie Bjorn Borg's five in a row. He is by far the best in the draw. He has Roddick in his half and he has a chance to face his nemisis Rafael Nadal in the final but Roger is waaaaayyyyy tooooooo strong.
On the women's side I like Justine Henin. She is a little girl who plays big hard hitting tennis. She may play Serena Williams in the quarters. What a great match-up -- power with Serena vs. the little Belgian waffle trying to counter the American power. I like Henin to win that match and beat Serena.
Go Cuse!
