SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Senior Joscie Kaup tallied a team-high 21 digs, raising her career total to 1,758, in Syracuse’s 3-0 loss to Mississippi on the opening day of the Sheraton Hilton Invitational hosted by the University of Akron. Kaup is now 34 digs shy of eclipsing the all-time career record held by Rachel Watson (1,791, 1996-99).

Kaup is now 34 digs shy of eclipsing the all-time career record held by Rachel Watson (1,791, 1996-99).
Senior Cheryl Cobbina led the Syracuse offense with nine kills. Sophomores Kacie MacTavish, Sarah Morton and freshman Mindy Stanislovaitis each tallied seven kills.
Sophomore Samantha Ainsworth collected a team-best 27 assists to pace the Orange attack.
Defensively, Kaup’s efforts were complimented by Cobbina’s 13 digs and MacTavish’s 11. Ainsworth added nine while freshman Hayley Todd collected four. Morton led Syracuse with five total blocks.
