SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse University has teamed with TK99 FM and Galaxy Communications to present Gary Gait’s Laxapalooza on Saturday, February 9 in the Carrier Dome. The event is free of charge and includes the Orange men’s lacrosse team’s scrimmage against Harvard, a shooting demonstration by head women’s lacrosse coach Gary Gait, his brother, Paul, and Mike Powell and a youth clinic with the Syracuse men’s and women’s lacrosse teams.
"When TK99 became the flagship for Syracuse Athletics last year we decided we wanted to do something special for football, basketball and lacrosse," said Ed Levine, CEO of Galaxy Communications. "For football we have parties on the Quad. We did the Midnight Madness event for basketball in October. We started talking with Dr. (Daryl) Gross and Coach (Gary) Gait and Coach (John) Desko and asked what we could do for lacrosse. We jointly came up with this concept that we are calling Laxapalooza. It is a gigantic, free lacrosse festival which has never happened before in this community which is a hot bed for lacrosse."
"I am very excited about this event," Gary Gait said. "I am excited about coming to Syracuse, not only to take over as the women’s lacrosse coach, but to get involved in the community by working with TK99 and Ed Levine to put on what I think will be a fun and exciting lacrosse festival for the community."
