Orange All-Around: SU Track & Field on Tour

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – With the 2008 indoor season in full-swing, the Syracuse track & field program is facing a busy weekend with three events in a three-day span. The Orange will host the Syracuse Invitational on Friday, February 1 and Saturday, February 2. Additionally, SU will head to Yale for the two-day Giegengack Invitational, and three Orange performers will be competing in the nationally acclaimed Millrose Games at Madison Square Garden.
The Syracuse Invitational marks the second indoor meet this season held in Manley Field House. The Orange hosted the Syracuse Welcome Back on Saturday, January 12. The invitational will welcome 13 schools, including local in-state rivals Albany and Binghamton, for the two-day meet. Friday’s events are scheduled to begin at 3:30, while Saturday’s slate is set to commence with field events at 11:00 a.m.
The Orange will be sending a distance-only team to New Haven, Conn. for the Giegengack Invitational. Graduate Jordan Davis, senior Kyle Heath and junior Jeff Scull will lead the Syracuse men, while the first-year tandem of Katie Hursey and Liz McCarter will power the SU women.
Aulton Kohn and Ramon Sosa are heading to the Big Apple for the highly-regarded Millrose Games, held on Friday in the “World’s Most Famous Arena”. Kohn returns to the Millrose Games and will compete in the 60m dash professional division after finishing second in 2007 in the college division. Sosa, fresh off a first-place and NCAA-provisional performance in the 60m hurdles at the Penn State National Open, will compete in the 60m hurdles college division. Michael LeBlanc also earned an invite to the Millrose Games, but will not compete due to a minor injury.
