SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse tennis team persists onward in its fall quest this weekend at the Yale Invitational starting on Friday, October 31 and concluding Sunday, November 2.
Last weekend, the Orange spread itself out to two different tournaments. Syracuse was represented by sophomore Christina Tan and freshman Emily Harman at the Wilson/ITA East Region Championship hosted by the University of Pennsylvania.
Tan clipped Radford's Petra Dajevic in her first ITA singles match, rallying back from a close 7-6 (2) tiebreaker loss to win the next two sets, 6-4 and 6-3. Tan moved onto the second round of the competition and squared off against the eighth seeded Janet Kim of Yale. Tan hung tough throughout the match but was eventually overcome by Kim, 6-4, 6-2.
In doubles' action, Harman and Tan opposed UVA's ninth-ranked duo of Amanda Rales and Lindsey Hardenbergh for the first round of play. SU's duet battled the Cavaliers throughout the entire match, but was defeated 8-6.
The rest of the Orange tennis team participated in the Brown Invitational II tournament in Providence, R.I. this weekend. Junior Ashley Spicer, sophomores Simone Kalhorn, Katlyn Haycock and Jacquelynn Tang and freshmen Victoria Ford and Allison Haynes revisited Brown's campus on Saturday, Oct. 25. Tournament results have not been released yet.
