SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse women's basketball team (8-2) wraps up its five-game homestand against Ohio University (4-5) on Sunday, December 21 at 4 pm. Syracuse seeks out a spotless five-game span under the Dome, a stretch in which the Orange has outscored its opponents 290-191. Last Sunday, Syracuse pummeled Niagara University by 39-points, 93-54.

Syracuse seeks out a spotless five-game span under the Dome, a stretch in which the Orange has outscored its opponents 290-191. Last Sunday, Syracuse pummeled Niagara University by 39-points, 93-54.

Catching Up with Ohio
The Ohio Bobcats have compiled a 4-5 record so far this season. After winning its first game, Ohio hit a four-game skid. The Bobcats resurfaced by winning three their last four outings, with victories coming against Presbyterian, Marshall and Cleveland State.
Senior Lauren Hmiel has paved the way for the Bobcats as their scoring leader, averaging 12.8 points a game. Hmiel is also the team’s leading rebounder, averaging 5.7 boards per game. Junior Jenny Poff is right on her heels with 12.7 point per contest. She also represents Ohio’s deep-threat, converting 25-of-62 (.403) behind the arc.

Defensively, junior Jennifer Bushby directs Ohio's efforts with 21 totals steals while sophomore Kamille Buckner has totaled a club-high 20 blocks and 13 steals.
Syracuse and Ohio have never met before, which denotes the sixth first-time opponent the Orange has squared off against this season.
Last Time Out
Syracuse forced a season-high 31 turnovers in a 93-54 victory against Niagara at the Carrier Dome last Sunday. The Orange set the season's benchmark with 93 points in the triumph. Syracuse controlled the Purple Eagles in numerous categories, but the most evident statistic was points-off-turnovers. In forcing a season-best 31 turnovers, Syracuse was able to take advantage of NU’s errors by converting 49 points in transition. The Orange also put up big numbers in the paint and on the fast-break by outscoring Niagara, 44-22 and 22-2, respectively.
Junior forward Juanita Ward tallied a game-high 20 points and added nine rebounds while recording a career-best five steals, also a game-high. Junior forward Nicole Michael scored a season-best 18 points and collected nine boards. Sophomore guard Erica Morrow registered 15 points, five rebounds and three steals while senior Chandrea Jones scored eight points along with three steals and five boards. Freshman guard Tyler Ash came on strong by posting a couple career-highs. Ash led all participants with 10 rebounds as well as representing eight Orange points, both career-bests. The Liverpool, N.Y. native also made her first two free throws of the season. Freshman guard Lynnae Lampkins made her debut for the Orange. Lampkins displayed her playmaking abilities by registering a game-high six assists. Lampkins also recorded two steals and one board in her first game for Syracuse.
Ward's Hard Work Pays Off
Junior forward Juanita Ward was named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll for the first time in her Syracuse career after her dominating performance against Niagara on Sunday afternoon. Ward's 20 points, nine boards, four dimes and career-high five steals validated her conference award. Jones collected the same honor in the first two weeks of the season.
Through 10 games, Ward leads the Orange with 9.6 rebounds per game. She has also made her way to the free throw line the most frequently with 7.1 attempts per outing, converting a team-best 5.3 per game. Ward is third on the team with 121 points behind 33-of-90 (36.7 percent) from the field. Defensively, Ward has recorded 17 steals and four blocks.
Orange Peels
Four players yielded either season or career bests in the win against Niagara.
Ward matched a career-high in both points (20) and assists (4) in addition to recording a career-best five steals.
Ash's breakout performance produced five career-bests. Her 10 rebounds, eight points, two free throws, one block in 21 minutes of play all denoted career-highs.
Michael drained her first three pointer of the season en route to a season-high 18 points. Senior forward Lina Lisnere registered two offensive boards and two steals, both season-bests.
