SYRACUSE, N.Y. – After a two week hiatus from the Carrier Dome, the No. 23/24 Orange women's basketball team returns to host Marquette as part of "Think Pink" and National Girls and Women in Sports Day on Sunday, Feb. 10 at 2 p.m. Syracuse will be honoring all of SU's female scholar-athletes along with the cheerleaders, dance team and sour citrus. In addition, former Orange women's basketball and rowing standout Martha Mogish Rowe will be also recognized at halftime.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – After a two week hiatus from the Carrier Dome, the No. 23/24 Orange women's basketball team returns to host Marquette as part of "Think Pink" and National Girls and Women in Sports Day on Sunday, Feb. 10 at 2 p.m. Syracuse will be honoring all of SU's female scholar-athletes along with the cheerleaders, dance team and sour citrus. In addition, former Orange women's basketball and rowing standout Martha Mogish Rowe will be also recognized at halftime.
The outing will be nationally televised by ESPNU with Dave Ryan and Brook Weisbrod on the call. As usual, Brian Higgins will provide the action on the radio for WTLA 1200/1440. His broadcast can also be heard on suathletics.com via Orange All Access. Live stats will also be seen provided by suathletics.com.

"Think Pink" is an effort of breast cancer awareness and the team will be wearing pink t-shirts during warm-ups and pink shoelaces during the game, while the coaches will also be wearing pink. Breast cancer survivors will be in attendance and fans will be given pink ribbons. T-shirts commemorating the event will be thrown to the crowd.
Rowe is being honored Rowe, a four-year starter on the women's basketball team from 1978-81, was the first woman to be inducted as a LetterWinner of Distinction without the "honorary" tag, when she was enshrined in 2001. During her college career, Rowe set the SU single-game standard for rebounds (301), while leading the Orange to a school-best 26-8 record during the 1980-81 season.

She played professional basketball in Italy, France, Sweden and Finland, before returning to the United States and begin her career in sales in Albany, N.Y.
Here community involvement includes being a volunteer assistant coach for the Bishop Ludden high school girl's program and a volunteer for "Strathmore by the Park" home tours which benefits Onondaga Park. She is also an event volunteer for Upstate Medical University and the Leukemia Society.
Since graduating from SU, Rowe has stayed very active within the athletics department as a member of the Varsity Club Board of Directors and is an Orange Plus Hall of Fame Honoree.
ABOUT THE MATCH UP
The Orange is 17-4 overall and 5-3 in the BIG EAST, while the Golden Eagles are 13-9 and 5-4 in the conference. Syracuse has never beaten Marquette during BIG EAST play, but the Orange is riding the wave of a 9-1 record at home this season and have won three of its last four outings, including a 69-66 at No. 23.24 DePaul on Jan. 29.
Sophomore forward Nicole Michael has stepped up her game during conference play, averaging 15.3 points and 8.6 rebounds per game. In the Orange's 13 non-conference contest, she averaged 11.9 points and 7.5 boards per game.
This year she has posted six double-doubles, increasing her career total to 15. She has scored in double digits 17 times this season and in each of the last eight outings.
Senior center Vaida Sipaviciute is coming off an 11-point performance in the Orange's 78-71 set at Georgetown on Feb. 2. The Kaunas, Lithuania native was a perfect 5-for-5 from the field and 1-for-1 from the free-throw line. She is first on the team with 1.9 blocks per game and is second on SU's all-time blocks list (222).
The Golden Eagles are coming off a 72-65 win in its last outing against Cincinnati on Feb. 5. Behind a career-high 20 points and eight assists by freshman guard Angel Robinson, Marquette erased a 16-point halftime deficit. The young team, which includes a conference-high six freshman, is led by junior guard Krystal Ellis, who is averaging 19.1 points per game.
