SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Orange women’s lacrosse head coach Gary Gait has announced the dates for his 2008 girls lacrosse summer camps at Syracuse University.
The Nike Cup High School Team Tournament and Camp will be held July 7-10. The camp was developed to adapt to the continuously changing recruiting situation for high school athletes. College coaches will teach the players during team practices and will work alongside the participating team’s coaches. The teams will play in a complete championship tournament will full games on full fields. The cost for the overnight camp is $550.
The Syracuse University Elite Lacrosse Camp takes place July 21-24 and is open to youth ages 11-18. Campers are taught how to learn the skills rather than just be put through drills. Participants will learn through a unique progression of drills. Cost for the camp is $495 for overnight campers and $450 for commuter campers.
The Nike Middle School Team Tournament and Camp is scheduled for July 24-27. The camp combines the benefits of a teaching camp and a tournament, as players will learn new skills and the coaches will learn new drills and strategies. In addition, participants can learn more during special skills sessions when college coaches will teach individual skills, including defense, goaltending, dodging, shooting and more. The cost for the camp is $500 for overnight campers and $450 for commuter campers.
All three camps will include a recruiting seminar, a goal setting and preparation seminar and a speed and agility training session.
In addition to the camps at Syracuse University, Gait will conduct clinics in Atlanta, Ga. (June 1-4), Bowie, Md. (June 9-12), Simsbury, Conn. (July 23-26) and Portland, Ore. (July 14-17).
