
Rowan Named Female Scholar-Athlete of the Week

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Junior Katie Rowan, a member of the women’s lacrosse team, is the Syracuse University Female Scholar-Athlete of the Week for the week of February 18.
Rowan, a Delmar, N.Y. native, earned first-team ESPN The Magazine/Co-SIDA Academic All-District honors in 2006-07. She was a BIG EAST Academic All-Star in 2005-06 and has been named to the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll each of her semesters at Syracuse. Rowan is a double-major in inclusive education and sociology.
Entering the 2008 season, Rowan owns the Orange’s single-season record in points (86) and goals (59). She has also been named the Preseason Offensive Player of the Year in the BIG EAST.
The Syracuse women’s lacrosse team opens the 2008 season on Wednesday, February 20 against in-state foe Canisius at 7:00 p.m.
