Syracuse's seven road victories this season have helped the team enjoy the most successful season in program history. Through 24 games, the Orange is a program-best 19-5 and 7-4 in the BIG EAST. Standing in the way of the eighth road victory are the Friars, who own an 11-13 record, including a 1-10 conference mark.
Away from the Dome this season, four Orange student-athletes are averaging double-figures in scoring with junior guard Chandrea Jones leading the team with 14.4. Senior forward Fantasia Goodwin is averaging 13.7, while sophomore forward Nicole Michael and Morrow are averaging 12.6 and 12.1 points per game, respectively.
Of the fantastic four, only Goodwin is scoring more on the road than at home – she is averaging 1.9 more points in the road-Orange uniforms than in the home-whites. As the team's leading rebounder with 9.3 boards per game, Goodwin is averaging 9.1 rebounds on the road and 9.3 boards at home.
This season Syracuse has outscored its opponents 72.9-67.5 during away games. At the free-throw line, the Orange is making 77.1 percent of its attempts. On the road glass, The Orange is outrebounding its competition 43.7-37.5 and is undefeated when winning the battle in the lane. Syracuse is also averaging 8.2 steals and 4.1 blocks per game.
Providence is on an eight-game skid with losses to No. 22/24 Pittsburgh, Villanova (twice), Seton Hall, No. 20/21 Notre Dame, No. 1/1 Connecticut, No. 12/11 West Virginia and, most recently, St. John's.
Six of the Friars' 13 losses have come against ranked opponents; the last time Providence defeated a ranked opponent dates back to Jan. 3, 2007, when it knocked off 13th-ranked Louisville, 106-94, in double overtime in Providence.
