Mark Competes with Country's Elite at NCAA Championship

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Graduate Sheron Mark totaled a distance of 12.73m in the triple jump on day two of the Division I Indoor NCAA Championship at the University of Arkansas’ Randal Tyson Track Center.
Mark finished 16th on Saturday. She owns the Orange’s school-record tally of 13.04m in the triple jump, tallied at the BIG EAST Championship on February 24. Mark earned all-conference distinction and finished second at the ECAC Championship on March 9.
Stanford’s Erica McLain captured the event’s crown with a distance of 14.20m.
Mark was the third of three Syracuse performers to compete at the NCAA Championship. Senior Jillian Drouin finished 17th in the high jump with a mark of 1.75m. Senior Ramon Sosa tallied a time of 7.90 seconds in the preliminary round of the 60m hurdles.
The Orange men and women’s indoor track & field teams open the 2008 outdoor slate on Saturday, March 22 at the Dick Shea Open in West Point, N.Y.
