
First Rate: Rowan Leads the Nation in Scoring Average

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Syracuse junior Katie Rowan ranks first in the nation in scoring average in this week’s NCAA women’s lacrosse statistics released Tuesday. Rowan, the Orange’s leading scorer, is averaging 6.5 points per game. Syracuse ranks fifth in the country among the team leaders in scoring average, recording 17.87 points per contest.
Rowan has tallied 39 points this season, which ties her for third in the nation. She is also tied for sixth in assists (17) and is eighth in assists per game (2.83) Rowan is one of three Orange who ranks among the national leaders in goals per game. She is tied for 15th (3.67), while sophomores Christina Dove and Halley Quillinan are tied for 17th (3.50). In addition, freshman goalkeeper Liz Hogan ranks 14th in goals against average (8.06).
As a team, Syracuse is tied for fourth in scoring margin (9.50) and ranks 11th in points (109) and draw controls (15.50) and 15th in scoring defense (8.52).
The No. 6/5 Orange goes for its fourth straight win when it returns to the Carrier Dome on Wednesday to take on Towson at 1 p.m. Admission to the game is free.
