PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Freshman Jacquelynn Tang collected her ninth singles win of the season in the Orange’s 6-1 loss at Ivy League foe Brown on Sunday. The Bears tallied two of three doubles matches before collected five singles victories en route to the win.

Tang evened her record at 2-2 at the No. 6 position after a 6-4, 6-3 triumph against Brown’s Alexa Baggio. The rookie’s win matches doubles partner and junior Maria Vasilyeva for the team-lead with nine.
Tang and Vasilyeva captured their second doubles win in as many tries and improved their mark to 2-0 at the No. 3 position, and 4-3 overall. The duo collected an 8-4 decision against the Bears’ Brett Finkelstein and Itsuka Kurihara.
Sophomore Chelsea Jones and freshman team captain Christina Tan battled to an 8-6 setback at the No. 2 position. Sophomore Ashley Spicer and freshman Simone Kalhorn suffered an 8-1 loss at the No. 1 spot.
Tan earned a 6-3 first-set win at No. 1 singles against Bianca Aboubakare before suffering back-to-back 6-1 setbacks in sets two and three. Jones evened her contest with Marissa Schonfeld at two sets apiece following 6-4 victory. However, Schonfeld outlasted Jones, 13-11, in the third-set tiebreaker.
Syracuse (6-8, 4-2) embarks on a 12-day hiatus before concluding a season-long seven-match road trip against Central Florida and BIG EAST foe South Florida. The Orange will look to snap a four-match skid against UCF on March 14 at 2:00 p.m. before meeting USF on March 16 at 11:00 a.m.
