
Dove Earns BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week Award

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Syracuse sophomore Christina Dove earned the women’s lacrosse BIG EAST Conference Offensive Player of the Week award for her performance in the Orange’s victories against Towson and Connecticut. It’s Dove’s first career conference Player of the Week award. In addition, senior Christina Gibson has been named to the league’s weekly honor roll.
Dove scored a career-best six goals in Syracuse’s 22-5 win against Towson. She followed that performance with a career-high seven points on five goals and two assists in the Orange’s 24-4 victory against Connecticut. Dove also had three draw controls and one ground ball against the Huskies. In the two games, Dove amassed 13 points on 11 goals and two assists. She leads the Orange with 32 goals this season and ranks second on the team in points with 38. Dove currently ranks 10th on Syracuse’s all-time scoring list with 96 points and is tied for eighth on the career goals scored list with 79.
Gibson tied career highs with four ground balls and three caused turnovers against Towson. Against Connecticut, she helped limit the Huskies to just three shots on goal and one goal in the second half. Gibson leads the team with 13 caused turnovers.
The sixth-ranked Orange hosts No. 1 Northwestern on Monday at 7 p.m. in the Carrier Dome. Admission is free. Syracuse goes on the road to take on Cincinnati on Sunday at 1 p.m.
