As the school year draws to a close, so does many of the Orange Olympic sports, which are in the hunt of championship titles. The women's lacrosse team nabbed its second straight BIG EAST regular-season title, while the softball team came a few steps closer to securing its fourth straight BIG EAST playoff berth. Men's rowing captured the Goes Trophy against Navy and Cornell, and the women's rowing competed at the Charles River Challenge. The tennis team battled at the BIG EAST championship and individuals on the track and field squad registered NCAA Regional qualifying times.
In the Orange's 24-6 victory against Colgate on Wednesday, April 16, junior Katie Rowan continued her record-breaking season by scoring 10 points on seven goals and three assists, breaking the school's all-time career points record with 239. She added more points to her career total during SU's 19-8 BIG EAST regular-season finale against Layola on Saturday, April 19. Rowan scored three goals and dished out three assists.
The Orange claimed the BIG EAST regular-season title for the second consecutive years and finished conference play with a 5-0 record, marking the first time Syracuse has been unbeaten against BIG EAST opponents.

The 12th-ranked Syracuse men’s crew team made history on Saturday, April 19 by winning the Goes Trophy against Navy and Cornell for the third consecutive season, a feat that has never been accomplished by the Orange in the 54-year history of Goes Trophy. SU (5:40.9) defeated a Navy (5:42.4) squad with whom it shares its twelfth ranking, by 1.5 seconds and No. 10 Cornell (5:48.6) by 8.3 seconds.
The varsity eight boat of Jamie Hubbell (coxswain), Ryan Armstrong (stroke), Ryan Patton (7 seat), Martin Etem (6 seat), Brian Azeff (5 seat), Tyson Bry (4 seat), Mike Bagnall (3 seat), John Combs (2 seat) and Dan Lombardi (bow) won Syracuse’s 10th-consecutive cup racing dating back to the 2006 season.
Syracuse also won the Stagg Cup for overall points. The crews had ideal rowing conditions, calm water and a slight tail wind, at Cayuga Lake Inlet in Ithaca, New York.

Junior catcher Amy Kelley enjoyed one of the greatest doubleheaders in Syracuse history when she totaled three home runs on three consecutive plate appearances in the Orange's 4-3 and 5-4 sweep of Seton Hall on Sunday, April 20. The Orange finished the weekend 4-0 in BIG EAST play with 1-0 and 2-1 wins against St. John's on Friday, April 18. Syracuse began the week with a pair of losses to Cornell, 5-3 and 5-4, on Wednesday, April 16.
Kelley became the first Orange student-athlete in school history to account for all five of her team's RBI and the first SU woman to hit three home runs on three consecutive plate appearances in one day. For the week she totaled nine hits, nine RBI, four home runs and two doubles, while batting .474 with a 1.211 slugging percentage and a .500 on-base percentage. Sophomore pitcher Brittany Gardner posted a 2.45 ERA for the week en route to a 2.45 ERA with 24 strikeouts.

The sixth-seeded Syracuse tennis team's season concluded on Thursday, April 17 with a 4-2 loss against seventh-seeded St. John’s the BIG EAST Tournament hosted by South Florida. The Orange (11-14) finishes tied for seventh place with eighth-seeded Rutgers following the Scarlet Knights’ 4-3 loss against fourth-seeded Marquette.
Junior Maria Vasilyeva tallied her team-best 17th singles win of the season with a 6-2, 6-0 win at the No. 3 position against Emily Barnett. She finishes with a 12-2 mark against BIG EAST opponents and won 13 of her last 17 matches.

Track and Field
Sophomore Dan Busby and junior Terry Marshall qualified for the NCAA Regional while competing at the Larry Ellis Invitational on Friday, April 18 and Saturday, April 19. Busby finished second in the 5000m run on Friday with a time of 14:09.14 and Marshall won the 110m with his qualifying time of 13.99 during day two.

On Friday, sophomore Jay Koloseus finished eighth in the 5000m run with an IC4A-qualifying time of 14:31.37. Sophomore Curtis Bixler improved upon his previous IC4A-qualifying performance (9:17.06) in the 3000m steeplechase, finishing eighth with a time of 9:14.33. On Saturday, Rookie Lareea Chisholm collected the 200m dash (24.51) title and finished second in the 100m dash (11.91), posting two ECAC-qualifying times. Senior Keisha Townsend qualified for the ECAC Championship with a time of 14.36 seconds in the preliminary heat of the 100m hurdles.
