Orange Holds on to Top Spot in This Week's USILA Coaches Poll

SYRACUSE, N.Y. –The Orange retained its No. 1 ranking this week in the USILA Coaches Poll released today. The Orange received 213 points and six of the 11 first-place votes after defeating Princeton, 13-6, on Saturday. The other five first-place nods went to Duke which checked in at No. 2 with 208 points.
In this week’s Nike/Inside Lacrosse Media Poll, Syracuse slipped to No. 2. The Blue Devils leap-frogged the Orange on the strength of an 11-goal victory against Johns Hopkins Saturday afternoon. Duke garnered 350 points in the media rankings and earned 11 first-place votes. The Orange got seven first-place votes and totaled 347 points.
Virginia (10-1), Georgetown (7-2) and Cornell (8-1) rounded out the top five in both sets of rankings.
The Orange will play its second and final mid-week game of 2008 on Tuesday, April 8. Syracuse will visit Schoellkopf Field for 7 p.m. contest with No. 5 Cornell. The game will be televised live on Tim Warner Sports all throughout Central New York.
