Rookie Victor Nwosu finished seventh in the long jump, tallying a mark of 7.09m.

Senior Kyle Heath has just captured the men’s 3000m steeplechase title with a time of 8:57.39. He becomes the Orange’s second individual champion, joining senior Jillian Drouin’s first-place finish in the heptathlon. Sophomore Curtis Bixler placed ninth (9:19.16) and freshman Mike Brocks finished 13th (9:51.04).
Senior Meghan Rowcliffe qualified for the ECAC Championship with a time of 10:54.65 in the women’s 3000m steeplechase. Sophomore Lynne Mundy finished ninth with a time of 11:07.18. Senior Jillian Kosinski placed 11th (11:14.82) and sophomore Stefanie Slekis finished 12th (11:33.45).
Graduate Aulton Kohn qualified for his second event final in as many tries with a time of 21.36 seconds. He finished second in preliminary heat number two. Kohn collected the event title in 2007.
Final decathlon standings listed sophomore Jon Buice in 10th (6,238), Mike Chitro in 12th (6,132), rookie Evan Stivala in 14th (5,333) and senior Terry Barresi in 15th (5,288).
4:45 p.m.
Juniors Skyy Simmons and Terry Marshall just completed the 400m hurdles. Simmons finished ninth (53.40) overall and Marshall placed 15th (53.79). Both did not qualify for Sunday’s title heat.
Junior Lauren McClenney finished 10th overall with a time of 1:03.80.
Women’s open shot put results are in. Sophomore Monica Ridgeway placed 12th overall with a distance of 12.25m.
Sophomore Jon Buice has slipped to ninth in the decathlon standings with 5,677 points heading into the final event, the 1500m run. Junior Mike Chitro ranks 11th (5,553) and senior Terry Barresi is 14th (4,807).
Graduate Aulton Kohn is looking to qualify for his second final in as many tries as he gears up for the 200m dash. Rookie Lareea Chisholm, who also competed in the 100m dash earlier, will run on the women’s side.
Also, we are getting ready to return to the distance portion of the meet. There is much anticipation surrounding the men’s 3000m steeplechase as Orange senior Kyle Heath owns the top time in the BIG EAST this season with a school-record tally of 8:48.60.

Graduate Aulton Kohn bettered his 100m dash time with a performance of 10.54 seconds, finishing first in preliminary heat two and qualifying for Sunday’s final. Rookie Flings Owusu-Agyapong also punched her ticket for the women’s final, placing first with a time of 11.76 seconds.
Kohn debuted at the Raleigh Relays with a time of 10.55 seconds after missing out on the indoor season due to exhausted eligibility. He posted the field’s top time on Saturday. Owusu-Agyapong’s time is .01 seconds shy of an NCAA Regional invitation.
Rookie Sham Lewis posted a time of 10.79 seconds and junior Bernard Bush tallied a time of 10.94 seconds, finishing 13th and 20th, respectively. Freshman Lareea Chisholm placed 14th overall with a time of 12.13 seconds.
In decathlon action, Jon Buice ranks third with 5,677 points after eight events. He tallied a mark of 3.95m in the pole vault, an event that lasted more than three hours. Junior Mike Chitro is 11th (5,082) and senior Terry Barresi is 14th (4,475). The javelin has just started.
The men’s long jump is currently in session with Bush and rookie Victor Nwosu competing for the Orange.
Juniors Terry Marshall, Skyy Simmons and Lauren McClenney are loosening up for the 400m hurdles in the oval’s infield.

Senior Ramon Sosa and junior Terry Marshall have qualified for the 110m hurdles final on Sunday. Sosa finished second in heat four with a time of 14.24 seconds. Marshall placed first in heat two with a time of 14.27 seconds.
Senior Keisha Townsend finished 14th overall with a time of 14.61 seconds in the 100m hurdles.
The women’s 100m dash just started and results should be made available shortly. Flings Owusu-Agyapong appeared to finish first in her heat and Lareea Chisholm is just getting into the blocks.

Senior Nana Sang-Bender posted a time of 4:32.40 in the first preliminary heat of the 1500m run, qualifying for Sunday’s event final. The Syracuse native was competing for just the second time this outdoor season following a minor injury suffered during the indoor campaign. Sang-Bender’s season-best performance of 4:31.44 came at the Larry Ellis Invitational.
Graduate Jordan Davis tallied a time of 3:51.07 in the 1500m run, failing to qualify by one position. Rookie Liz McCarter totaled a time of 4:39.79, wrapping up her debut at the BIG EAST Championships.
In women’s open javelin action, sophomore Lorraine Hill finished 10th with a toss of 40.06m.
As an update, the Orange has claimed one individual title and three All-BIG EAST performances to this point. Senior Jillian Drouin repeated as the heptathlon champion with an NCAA Automatic-qualifying mark of 5,554 points.
Senior Kaity Lambracht earned all-conference accolades following a third-place finish (5,329) in the heptathlon. Graduate Sheron Mark claimed her fourth career outdoor All-BIG EAST performance with a second-place finish in the long jump.
The women’s 100m hurdles are next followed by the men’s 110m hurdles. Defending champion Ramon Sosa and Terry Marshall will don the Orange in the latter.
1:30 p.m.
Graduate Sheron Mark claimed All-BIG EAST recognition, the third member of the Orange to do so, with a second-place finish and NCAA Regional-qualifying mark of 6.13m in the long jump. It marks the fourth all-conference outdoor performance for the Diego Martin, Trinidad native, including her second in the long jump (2006). Mark’s previous season-best tally was 6.11m at the Spec Towns Invitational.
In decathlon action, the pole vault is still in session. Sophomore Jon Buice ranks second after seven events with 5,074 points.
The distance portion of the meet is minutes from starting. Junior Nana Sang-Bender and graduate Jordan Davis headline the Orange in the 1500m run.

Senior Jillian Drouin becomes the first repeat BIG EAST Outdoor Champion in a multi-event since Pittsburgh’s Tamara McGill (2003-05) following a first-place and NCAA Automatic-qualifying total of 5,554 points in the heptathlon at 2008 conference championship. She posted a BIG EAST Championship and Syracuse school-record total of 5,890 points en route to the crown in 2007.
Drouin becomes the Orange’s first repeat BIG EAST Outdoor Champion since Tim Adrian in 2001, 2002 and 2003 in the shot put. She becomes the first female repeat outdoor champion since Cheree Hicks in the shot put in 1999 and 2000. Drouin earns her latest title following a championship performance at the 2008 BIG EAST Indoor Championship in the pentathlon.
Senior Kaity Lambracht claimed All-BIG EAST accolades with a third-place finish and NCAA Provisional-qualifying total of 5,329 points. Notre Dame’s Alyissa Hasan placed second with 5,365 points. Sophomore Uhunoma Osazuwa finished fifth with 4,921 points.
After seven events in the decathlon, sophomore Jon Buice lists second with 5,074 points. He posted a mark of 29.45m in the discus throw. Junior Mike Chitro ranks ninth with 4,533 points. Senior Terry Barresi is 14th (4,130) and rookie Evan Stivala is 15th (3,982).

The heptathlon’s final event, the 800m run, is set to begin in just five minutes. Senior Jillian Drouin leads the field after six events with 4,901 points. She posted a mark of 35.09m in the javelin toss. Drouin captured the 2007 heptathlon crown with a BIG EAST and Syracuse school-record 5,890 points.
Senior Kaity Lambracht (4,527) ranks third and sophomore Uhunoma Osazuwa is fifth (4,252).
There are seven events complete for the decathlon and the results for the discus will be available shortly. Sophomore Jon Buice was in first place following six events with 4,620 points.

Two events are in the books on day two of the BIG EAST Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Villanova’s Jumbo Elliott Track. Senior Jillian Drouin and sophomore Jon Buice continue to lead the heptathlon and decathlon fields, respectively.
Drouin increased her first-place point total to 4,312 points after a leap of 5.91m in the long jump. Buice tallied the second-ranked time in the 110m hurdles, posting a performance of 15.19 seconds. He leads the decathlon field with 4,620 points.
Senior Kaity Lambracht has moved into third place in the heptathlon standings following a distance of 5.74m in the long jump. She owns a total of 3,933 points. Sophomore Uhunoma Osazuwa lists fifth with 3,822 points after five events.
Junior Mike Chitro posted the fifth-ranked time in the 110m hurdles, clocking in at 15.92 seconds. He has increased his point total to 4,070.
