The Syracuse women’s soccer team opened the 2008 fall season for Syracuse Athletics last week. Led by assistant coach Robyn Pepicelli, the Orange opened their 2008 campaign with a 3-1 victory against Albany.
The 2008 version of the Syracuse women’s soccer team opened its fall schedule at home on Saturday with a 3-1 victory against Albany. Sophomore Megan Bellingham put the Orange on the board after only 1:30 into the game. Less than three minutes later freshman Casey Ramirez scored her first collegiate goal to make the score 2-0. Freshman Amanda Morris scored also scored her first collegiate goal and Syracuse’s third goal with 11 minutes to go in the second half.

The Orange men’s soccer team opens its 2008 schedule on Friday at 7 p.m. against Canisius. This will be the first time the teams have played each other since 1990. The Orange defeated the Golden Griffin’s 3-1. The men’s soccer team returns all of its goal-scorers from 2007, including junior Hansen Woodruff who was named a 2008 Preseason All-BIG EAST selection. Fans are encouraged to “Stuff the Stadium” Friday night.

2007 BIG EAST Coach of the Year and second-year head coach Ange Bradley and the 2008 field hockey team begin their 2008 campaign on Sunday at Old Dominion at 1 p.m. The team was selected to finish second in the BIG EAST Preseason Coaches’ Poll. Bradley welcomes back the 2006 Atlantic-10 Player of the Year, senior Shannon Taylor, and sophomore Maggie Befort who was named a 2008 Preseason All-BIG EAST selection.

August 31 – vs. Old Dominion (1 p.m.; Collegeville, Pa.)
The Orange volleyball team opens its 2008 schedule on Friday at the Big Orange Bash against host Clemson. Following Friday’s match, the Orange will face Florida International on Saturday at 10 a.m. and will close out their opening weekend against Charleston Southern at 4 p.m. Head coach Jing Pu returns 12 letterwinners and four starters from 2007 and has added six freshmen to the squad.

Head coach Chris Fox and the 2008 cross country team will officially open 2008 on Saturday, Sept. 6 at the Harry Lang Invitational hosted by Colgate.
