SYRACUSE, NY – The Syracuse men’s basketball team will host Atlantic Coast Conference rival Virginia on Friday, November 28, at 7:00 p.m. in the Carrier Dome. The matchup is a return date from last year’s encounter, won by the Orange in Charlottesville, Va., 70-68.
Syracuse has a 2-1 edge, and has won the last two pairings, in the all-time series with the Cavaliers. This year’s encounter will mark the first time the two clubs have squared off in the Carrier Dome. The two programs first met in the 1984 NCAA East Region second round in Atlanta, where the Cavs won 63-55. In the 1990 NCAA Tournament, Syracuse claimed a 63-61 victory in the NCAA Southeast Region second round contested in Richmond.
Virginia put together a 17-16 record last year. Dave Leitao has a 53-42 record in his three campaigns at the Virginia helm. The Cavaliers won two of three outings in the inaugural College Basketball Invitational last March, defeating Richmond and Old Dominion before losing to Bradley.
