
Softball Returns Home Undefeated After Fall Classic

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – In day two of the BAGSAI 2008 Fall College Classic, the Syracuse University softball team went undefeated after playing its third and fourth match of the weekend. The Orange earned an 11-2 win against Cornell and followed it up with a 9-2 victory against St. Rose.
“We had another good day today,” head coach Leigh Ross said. “After completing the weekend, I’m very happy the team went 4-0. We saw a lot of positive things, but we need to keep working hard. We are looking forward to a good week of practice in preparation for our two games next weekend.”
The team had a great day offensively highlighted by senior Jordan Rosen, who hit a three-run homerun for the Orange against St. Rose.
Four different pitchers made appearances for SU. In the game versus Cornell, freshman pitcher Jenna Caira pitched the first five innings, while sophomore Angie Sagnelli finished up the final two innings. Junior pitcher Brittany Gardner stepped in for the Orange against St. Rose pitching for the first three innings. Freshman Gaby Torzilli rounded out the game with St. Rose, making her first collegiate appearance when she entered the game and pitched the final four innings.
