SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse had its home unbeaten streak snapped in a 2-0 setback to Louisville on Sunday, Oct. 4 at the SU Soccer Stadium. The Orange is now 4-6-3 overall and 1-3-1 in BIG EAST play, while Louisville goes to 4-7-0 overall and 1-4 in conference action.
Louisville took the early on Giselle Mangal's unassisted goal in the 21st minute. The Cardinals' second goal came on a corner kick. Ashley Racette served the ball into the box where she found Jennifer Jones, who put the ball in the back of the net in the 61st minute of play.
Syracuse had several scoring opportunities, its best chance coming in the 35th minute, but sophomore Taylor Chamberlain's shot hit the crossbar. The Orange finished with 10 shots, while the Cardinals recorded eight. SU earned nine corner kicks to five for Louisville.
Senior goalkeeper Eliza Bennett-Hattan made two saves, giving her 296 in her career. She needs four more stops to become the first goalkeeper in the program's history to record 300 career saves. Cardinals' goalkeeper Taylor Vancil finished with three saves.
Syracuse goes on the road for a pair of conference games next weekend. The Orange plays at West Virginia on Friday at 5 p.m. and at Pittsburgh on Sunday at 1 p.m.
