Orange No. 1 For Second Straight Week

BALTIMORE, Md. – The Syracuse Orange is ranked No. 1 in the first regular-season edition of the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) coaches poll, released Monday, Feb. 16. The Orange received seven of the eight first-place ballots cast and 159 total points, retaining its No. 1 preseason ranking following a 22-3 victory against Providence on Feb. 15.
Virginia was the recipient of the other first-place vote in the coaches poll. The Cavaliers are ranked No. 2 for the second consecutive week with 153 points. Maryland (140 points), Johns Hopkins (125 points), and Duke (123 points) rounded out the top five.
The Orange maintained its No. 2 position in the NIKE/Inside Lacrosse rankings that were also released Monday. Virginia is ranked No. 1 again this week in the media poll, receiving 12 of 14 first-place votes and checking in with a total 278 points. The Orange captured the other two first-place votes and totaled 264 points.
The Orange continues regular-season action on Friday, Feb. 20, against Army. Faceoff is slated for 7 p.m. at the Carrier Dome.
