Track Members Shine as Two of 44 Stars

Two Orange track and field student-athletes were honored at the 44 Stars of Excellence Gala and Celebration on April 16, 2009, sponsored by the Office of Student Life and presented by Macy's and Bloomingdales. This annual award ceremony recognizes and celebrates outstanding student organizations and student leaders.
Senior sprinter and hurdler, Lori Robinson, received the Student Life “Live It” Award for Excellence in Leadership, which is presented to no more than five students who have demonstrated excellence in leadership by consistently serving the students, faculty, staff, and community through his/her efforts to create and implement innovative programs.
Robinson, a sport management major, is president of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), which serves to represent the interests, opinions and concerns of SU student-athletes.
Senior sprinter and hurdler, Terry Marshall, received the Student Life “Live It” Award for Excellence in Leadership. This award is presented to one student and one student organization that has demonstrated a sincere commitment to expanding cultural diversity, and for serving as an advocate for cultural awareness on campus and in the community.
Marshall, a civil engineering major, is co-founder and president of Student-Athletes Across Borders (SAAB), which provides a support network for international student-athletes from recruitment to career planning.
