Orange Scoring Margin is Nation's Best

SYRACUSE - The 2009 NCAA champion Syracuse University men's lacrosse team was recognized by the NCAA as the Division I statistical champion for scoring margin. The Orange outscored its opponents by an average of 5.56 goals per game. SU scored 233 goals, which was second in the nation, while allowing only 133.
Head coach John Desko led the Orange to a school-record tying 16 victories and an overall mark of 16-2 for the second straight season. Syracuse capped it season with its NCAA record 11th men's lacrosse championship. The Orange secured the title with a dramatic 10-9 overtime win against Cornell on May 25. It was fifth NCAA Championship for the Orange under Desko. His five NCAA titles are the third-most by a Division I lacrosse coach.
