
Orange Publications Earn Awards

Four 2008-09 Syracuse University athletics publications earned national awards. The 'bE' magazine, the athletics department's 2007-08 annual report, won Graphic Design USA's 2009 American In-House Design competition. Her design was chosen among 4,000 entries from across the United States. In addition, three 2008-09 SU individual sport publications produced by the Athletic Communications staff earned publication awards at the 2009 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Convention in San Antonio.
Athletics Director Dr. Daryl Gross developed the concept for the 'bE' publication that was designed by Syracuse University designer Elizabeth Percival and included content produced by the athletic communications staff and head coaches and photographs by Steve Parker and Mike Okoniewski.
The men's soccer media guide was eighth in the nation among Division I schools. It was edited and designed by Mike Morrison, assistant director of athletic communications, and student assistant Matt Benvie. There were 28 entries in the men's soccer media guide contest.
The men's basketball media guide earned second in District 1. There were 83 entries in the national competition, including 12 from District 1. Director of Athletic Communications Pete Moore served as editor of the publication and was assisted primarily by Morrison and Susan Bedsworth, an athletic communications intern.
The women's basketball media guide, produced by Josh Waldman, assistant director of athletic communications, finished third in District 1. There were 85 national entries and 13 in District 1.
