Sit down. Get comfortable.
Now picture yourself sitting on a granite boulder next to a cold, babbling brook. Hear the water?
SitRelax your feet. Your legs. Your chest and arms. Your head and neck.
You feel a heavy, relaxing feeling coming over you. Now you are resting comfortably in a deep state of hypnosis, until I bring you back to the really real world.
Now forget everything about what occurred on Piety Hill on Saturday, October 16th, 2010.
What other option do we have as fans? Half the season is over and there's a lot more football to be played. Nothing can be gained by dwelling on everything that went wrong against those Pitt Panthers. Let's just move on.
If you DVR'd the game, erase it.
If someone at the water cooler says, “tough game, huh,” simply respond, “I don't know what you're talking about.”
The goal is still a Bowl Game. Any bowl game. We're not picky. We can't afford to be. Win half of our remaining games and the goal is accomplished. Will it be tough? Absolutely. But it's certainly not impossible.
Since I have you hypnotized and at my mercy, I'd like to make one more demand.
The next time you are in the Dome for a sporting event, stay until the end. That's right, the end. What can you possibly get accomplished in the forty-five extra minutes you gained by scooting out in the 3rd quarter? If you subtract travel time, you can't even rake the leaves or watch an episode of Desperate Housewives.
The irony of such a mass exodus, now that leaving early has become so popular, is that most of you are leaving to beat the traffic (as if there truly was traffic in Syracuse) and I would bet the “traffic” was worse after the third quarter than the fourth, when only a few thousand people remained in the Dome.
We hate it if the team quits on us. Let's not quit on them.
I'm going to count from one to 44. At the count of 44 you will awaken, alert and completely refreshed.
Now let's go get those Mountaineers.
Go Orange!
