
Season Ends on Senior Day

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Syracuse (23-9, 5-9) closed out its 2010 campaign with a 3-1 loss to Louisville (18-7, 12-2) on Sunday afternoon in the Women's Building. It marked the final match in the collegiate careers of seniors Sarah Hayes, Mindy Stanislovaitis and Hayley Todd, who were honored in a senior day ceremony before the match.
Stanislovaitis led the Orange offense with 13 kills on the night, hitting .400 with a trio of block assists. Todd was second on the team with nine kills while junior outside hitter Noemie Lefebvre had six. Junior outside hitter Erin Little and freshman outside Samantha Clarey each added a pair of kills while sophomore setter Laura Homann directed the attack with 32 assists.
Hayes set the standard for the defense, collecting eight digs while junior libero Ashley Williams had four.
The Orange conquered the Cardinals in the first set, 25-15, but Louisville surged to a 25-12 second set win. The Cardinals continued to drive, taking sets three and four, 25-19 and 25-13, to earn the win.
Syracuse finishes the season at 23-9 overall, the best record since 2005.
