
Syracuse remained the consensus No. 1 team in the nation after its season-opening win against Denver.

BALTIMORE, Md. – The Syracuse men's lacrosse team remained No. 1 in both national polls this week after a convincing 15-9 victory against Denver in its season opener on Feb. 19. The Orange earned all 13 first-place votes in the USILA coaches poll and 18 of the 20 first-place votes in the NIKE/Inside Lacrosse media rankings, released on Monday, Feb. 22.
Syracuse earned 260 points in the coaches rankings and 398 in the media poll. Virginia was second in both sets of rankings and received two first-place votes in the NIKE/Inside Lacrosse poll.
Notre Dame, North Carolina and Johns Hopkins rounded out the top five in the coaches poll. In the media poll, North Carolina was third followed by Johns Hopkins and Notre Dame.
Syracuse returns to action on Sunday, Feb. 28. The Orange will host Army at 5 p.m. in the Carrier Dome.
