
Softball Wraps Up Spring Break at the USF "The Game" Tournament

CLEARWATER, Fla. – Syracuse (10-10) wraps up its 10-day spring break training trip at the USF “The Game” Tournament in Clearwater, Fla. The Orange faces five teams – 17/17 Ohio State, 16/16 Florida State, 25/21 Illinois, Florida Atlantic and Towson – over the course of three days beginning Friday, March 19 at 11 a.m.

Last At Bat
Syracuse began its spring break trip at the FAU Parents Weekend Tournament where it compiled a 4-1 record against Jacksonville, FAU, Iowa and Charleston Southern.
Sophomore Lisaira Daniels continued to set the tone for the Orange offense, hitting .538 (7-for-13) with two doubles, a triple and three RBI in tournament action. Junior Rachel Helman was the second-leading hitter in Boca Raton, going .429 (3-for-7) at the plate while sophomore Lacey Kohl hit .300 (3-for-10) with a pair of doubles and a team-best RBI.
The Syracuse pitching staff dominated throughout the weekend, allowing only six earned runs through five games. Sophomore Jenna Caira led the staff, going 2-0 while holding opponents without an earned run and striking out 19 in 13.0 innings of work. The Toronto, Ontario native was named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll on March 15 for her weekend performances.
Freshman Stacy Kuwik tallied a 1.91 ERA, striking out six in 11.0 innings. Senior #Brittany# Gardner earned a pair of wins in the circle, allowing four earned runs while striking out 10 in 11.0 innings.
