BALTIMORE – A day after being selected as the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week, Syracuse senior captain Chris Daniello was named the NIKE/Inside Lacrosse Player of the Week on Tuesday, April 20 for his performances against Cornell and Rutgers last week. He was also picked to the ThunderBay/Inside Lacrosse Team of the Week, as was Orange rookie close defenseman Brian Megill.
Daniello tallied nine points, including seven goals, against the Big Red and Scarlet Knights. He tallied three goals, including the game-winner with no time left, to lift Syracuse over Cornell (8-7) on April 13. He followed up the performance with a career-best six points, including tying his personal best with four goals, in an 11-5 win at Rutgers on April 18.
Loyola's Cooper MacDonnell and Army's Jeremy Boltus were the other two attackmen recognized this week by the publication.
On the defensive side, Megill set career highs for ground balls (6) and caused turnovers (4) at Rutgers. He also collected a ground ball at Cornell.
Towson's Marc Ingerman and Delaware's Pat Dowling joined Megill as this week's outstanding defensive performers.
The NIKE/IL Player of the Week and the ThunderBay/IL Team of the Week are selected by the magazine's staff and released on Tuesdays during the college season.
Syracuse returns to action on Saturday, April 24. The Orange will host Providence at 2 p.m. in the Carrier Dome.
