BALTIMORE – Junior close defenseman John Lade was named to the ThunderBay/Inside Lacrosse Team of the Week on Tuesday, April 7 for his performances in SU's victories against Villanova and Albany last week. The honor comes on the heels of his selection as BIG EAST Conference Defensive Player of the Week Monday.
Against Villanova, Lade recovered four ground balls and forced a turnover. He also marked Wildcats' leading scorer Kevin Cunningham and held him without a point. In the Albany game, Lade collected a season-best five ground balls and tied his personal best with three caused turnovers.
Maryland's Brett Schmidt and Princeton's Chad Wiedmaier were the other two defenders recognized by the publication this week.
The ThunderBay/Inside Lacrosse Team of the Week is selected by the magazine's staff and released on Tuesdays during the college season.
Syracuse will face off against No. 5 Princeton on Saturday, April 10 in the nightcap of the Konica Minolta Big City Classic at New Meadowlands Stadium. Game time is 6:30 p.m. live on ESPNU.
