
Three Orange Earn All-BIG EAST Honors

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Sophomores Jenna Caira and Lisaira Daniels and freshman Stacy Kuwik all earned BIG EAST All-Conference Team honors at Wednesday nights annual award banquet. Kuwik was a third team selection as a pitcher and designated player while Caira and Daniels both received second team honors.
Kuwik ranked fourth on the team offensively, hitting .257 with four doubles and a pair of home runs on the season. The Fairport, N.Y. native was even more impressive at conference games at the plate, ranking third on the team with a .326 BIG EAST average. Kuwik compiled a 6-10 record in the circle with a 3.31 ERA overall, striking out 89 in 99.1 innings.
Caira earned her second All-BIG EAST award, after being named a third team selection during her rookie campaign. She has a 17-11 record in the circle with a 2.18 ERA and 249 strikeouts in 176.1 innings pitched. The Toronto, Ontario native ranks third among BIG EAST pitchers in opponent batting average (.203), second in batters struck out (241) and batters struck out looking (63). She earned two BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week awards and a Player of the Week award, becoming the only student-athlete this season to earn both weekly awards.
Daniels was named to the second team at her first BIG EAST banquet after joining the team in January as a transfer from Georgia. She led the Orange offensively, hitting .357 with 61 hits, including 14 extra-base blasts and a team-leading 28 stolen bases. Daniels ranks among the conferences top 10 in batting average, hits, runs scored, triples and total plate appearances.
Kuwik, Caira, Daniels and the fifth-seeded Orange will square off against No. 4 Villanova in the opening game of the BIG EAST Championship on Thursday, May 13 at 10 a.m. at Ulmer Stadium.
