No. 14 Oklahoma Defeats Syracuse in NCAA Tournament Opening Game

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - No. 14 Oklahoma (44-10) defeated Syracuse (32-25), 10-1, in five innings in the opening game of the College Park NCAA Regional on Friday, May 21 at Robert E. Taylor Stadium. An explosive Sooners offense outhit the Orange, 8-1, and scored in every half inning to claim the win.
Sophomore right fielder Lisaira Daniels collected the lone hit of the day for SU, singling on a bunt in the bottom of the fourth.
Rookie ace Kalani Ricketts earned the victory in the circle for the Sooners, allowing one hit while striking out seven through 4.0 innings.
OU jumped out to a lead it would never relinquish in the bottom of the first, scoring a pair off of one hit. The Sooners added to their lead with three in the bottom of the second and one in the bottom of the third, before tallying four runs off of as many hits in the bottom of the fourth to earn the mercy rule victory, 10-1.
The Orange faces host Maryland tomorrow, Saturday, May 22 at 2 p.m. at Robert E. Taylor Stadium.
