Caira Repeats as BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Sophomore Jenna Caira was named BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week, the conference announced today. It is the third weekly award of the season for Caira, who was also named Pitcher of the Week on April 12 and Player of the Week on April 19, becoming the first conference student-athlete of the season to capture both weekly honors.
Caira led the Orange to a 3-1 week, going 3-0 in the circle to improve to 16-10 on the season. The Toronto, Ontario native turned in three-straight one-hit performances and has held the opposition scoreless through her last 19.0 innings pitched. She notched 33 strikeouts through 18.0 innings pitched over the course of the week.
It is the fourth career weekly award for Caira and the third of the season for Syracuse. Caira and the Orange return to the diamond in a doubleheader at Canisius on Tuesday, May 4 beginning at 3 p.m.
