SU Tabbed Preseason BIG EAST Favorite

BALTIMORE – The Syracuse Orange was picked to the win the BIG EAST Conference in the 2012 Face-Off Yearbook preseason coaches' poll. The announcement was made on the Inside Lacrosse web site Wednesday, Dec. 14.
Syracuse, the two-time defending league champion, was followed by Notre Dame, Villanova and Georgetown in the coaches' preseason vote. St. John's was fifth. Rutgers was picked sixth and Providence was seventh.
In addition, the coaches named Orange junior midfielder/attackman JoJo Marasco, sophomore defenseman Matt Harris and junior defenseman Brian Megill to the preseason all-conference team.
A USILA Honorable Mention All-American last year, Marasco tied for the team lead in points (41) and assists (18) in 2011. He has 32 goals and 26 assists in his first two seasons for the Orange and has scooped up 34 career ground balls.
Harris played in 16 games last season as a freshman. He recorded three points (2g, 1a) and collected 11 ground balls as a reserve long-stick middie.
Megill was an All-BIG EAST Second Team selection last season. He recorded 34 ground balls and led all SU close defensemen with 27 caused turnovers.
