The college softball world is taking notice of Syracuse University's best start in school history. The Orange is ranked 27th in this week's USA Today/NFCA Division I Top 25 poll. Syracuse, which earned 25 votes in the poll, is off to the best start in school history with a 12-2 record and has won five games in a row.
The Orange, which is the highest ranked BIG EAST team, re-entered the national poll during the 2011 pre-season, marking the first time SU has been ranked or received votes in the poll since March 22, 2005.
Syracuse will play in the University of Florida tournament this weekend, facing second-ranked Florida, University of the Pacific, Gardener-Webb, North Dakota State and Valparaiso.
The USA Today/NFCA Division I Top 25 Poll is voted on by NCAA Division I head coaches, one representing each conference.
