PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Orange senior goalie John Galloway and senior attackman Stephen Keogh have been recognized by the BIG EAST Conference for their performances in SU's 9-8 overtime win against Georgetown at the Konica Minolta Face-Off Classic. Galloway was named the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week for the first time in his career on Monday, March 14 and Keogh was named to the league's weekly honor roll.
Galloway made a season-high 13 saves against the Hoyas. He anchored a Syracuse defense that held the Hoyas to eight goals, almost five less than their season average (12.75). The victory was the 48th of his career, eclipsing Jay Pfeifer's previous school record of 47 wins from 2002-05. Galloway also moved into sole possession of third place on the NCAA Division I career wins list.
Keogh scored four goals against the Hoyas, including the game-winner with 2:19 left in overtime. He also added an assist for a season-high five points on his way to game MVP honors. Three of Keogh's four goals came in the second half and the performance represented his 16th career hat trick.
Syracuse returns to action on Tuesday, March 15. The Orange hosts #14 Albany inside the Carrier Dome at 7 p.m. The game will be televised live across New York State on Time Warner Sports and SNY.
