BALTIMORE – A day after being selected as the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week, Syracuse redshirt junior Tim Desko was named the NIKE/Inside Lacrosse Player of the Week on Tuesday, March 8 for his performance against Virginia.

Desko scored five goals, including three in the second half, to lead the Orange to its first regular-season win against the Cavaliers since 2004. Overall, Desko shot 62.5 percent for the game, scoring on five of his eight attempts. With 10 goals in three outings, Desko currently ranks third nationally in goals per game (3.33).

The NIKE/IL Player of the Week is selected by the magazine's staff and released on Tuesdays during the college season.

Syracuse opens BIG EAST Conference play on Saturday, March 12 against Georgetown at the Konica Minolta Face-Off Classic. The game is slated for 11 a.m. at Baltimore's M&T Bank Stadium. It will be televised live nationally on ESPNU.
