Orange All Access Coverage: April 14 practice
The rosters are set, with coaches and captains in place, for the annual Syracuse Orange Spring Football Game. The teams will take the field in the Carrier Dome for the last time during the Spring season on Saturday, April 16. After practice on Thursday night head coach Doug Marrone announced the Blue and White team rosters, including coaches and captains. The Dome gates open at 11:00 a.m. for the 'Select-A-Seat' program while the team takes the field for pre-game warm-ups. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m. Following the game all fans are invited to participate in an autograph session on the field.
“They are excited about the game on Saturday,” said Marrone of his team. “When I came in there (after practice), they had already started getting after it; the coaches were getting after it. I just want competitiveness. We just want to go out and show how hard the players have been working and how competitive they are. We are looking forward to signing autographs after the game for the people who show up. We want to make sure that they can get on the field and reach out and touch the team. I'm excited about all of it.”
Offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett will coach the Blue team with seniors Michael Hay, Mikhail Marinovich, Marcus Sales and Kevyn Scott serving as team captains, while defensive coordinator Scott Shafer will coach the White squad with seniors Antwon Bailey, Torrey Ball, Olando Fisher and Andrew Tiller as captains.
“It is a big deal when you don't have to hit the same guy you have been going against for the past 14 practices,” Marinovich said. “We will go out there and compete for the last time this Spring. It means a lot. This Spring has been essential for our growth as a defense. Coach Shafer does a great job preparing us.”
The 'Select-A-Seat' program offers an opportunity for fans to walk around the Dome to choose their location for the 2011 season from all available seating, which will be marked with special signage. The Box Office will be open and staff will be available around the Dome to assist with the selection process and answer questions. Admission and parking are free. Fans should enter the Carrier Dome through the Dome's lower level gates (A,B,C,D,E and F). The event will be broadcast on 97.7 FM Syracuse with coverage beginning at 12:45 p.m. The broadcast will be available on Orange All Access.
During the game, 2011 SU football posters will be available at Gate A, fans can experience Club 4•4 at no charge and concession stands will be open. At halftime one lucky fan will have the opportunity to participate in a 'Field Goal Kick' contest to win either $100 or a $250 cash card from Empower Federal Credit Union.
Following the game, the Orange football team will host an autograph session on the Carrier Dome field.
