Senior men's lacrosse co-captain John Galloway is featured in the April 25 issue of Sports Illustrated. Galloway is one of six individuals from around the country in the “Faces in the Crowd” section.
A four-year starter, Galloway set the NCAA record for career wins by a goalie earlier this season, earning his 52nd win in SU's 13-11 victory against Duke on April 3. Galloway recorded a season-best 16 saves in the contest.
Galloway has been named the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week three times in 2011, and is also a for the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award, which is presented to the nation's most outstanding Division I men's lacrosse student-athlete.
Galloway's illustrious career includes becoming the first SU goalie to win the Ensign C. Markland Kelly Jr. Award as the nation's best goalkeeper. In addition, he's the only starting goalie in NCAA history to win national championships as a freshman and sophomore.
