
Gait and the Orange Earn BIG EAST Honors

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Syracuse head coach Gary Gait was named BIG EAST Women's Lacrosse co-Coach of the Year and six members of the Orange were honored on the league all-conference teams at the BIG EAST Conference Awards Banquet held on Wednesday, May 4 in Washington, D.C.
Seniors Liz Hogan, Tee Ladouceur and Catherine Rodriguez, sophomore Michelle Tumolo and freshman Katie Webster were voted to the All-BIG EAST First Team, while sophomore Becca Block earned all-conference second team honors. Syracuse's five all-conference first team selections were the most for any school.
In addition, team captains Lindsay Rogers and Hogan accepted Syracuse's BIG EAST regular-season trophy.
Gait guided the Orange to a share of the BIG EAST regular-season title in 2011, finishing the regular season with a 7-1 mark in league play. It marks the third time Syracuse has either won or shared the conference regular-season crown in his four years at the helm of the program. Since being named head coach in August 2007, Gait has led the Orange to a record of 57-22 (.722), two appearances in the Final Four, three BIG EAST regular-season titles and one conference tournament championship. Gait shared the award with Loyola's Jen Adams.
Hogan is making her fourth consecutive appearance on the All-BIG EAST First Team. She is the league's all-time leader in saves in conference games with 253. Hogan leads the BIG EAST and ranks ninth in the nation in save percentage (.489). She's reached double figures in saves in six games in 2011, including three of her last seven contests. Hogan is Syracuse's career leader in saves (654) and ground balls (179).
Ladouceur is Syracuse's leading goal scorer this season with 34 and ranks second in scoring with 51 points. She has scored three or more goals in six games in 2011. Ladouceur ranks sixth on the Orange's all-time scoring list (176 pts.). In addition, she is fourth in career assists (80) and 10th in career goals (96). Ladouceur was selected to the All-BIG EAST Second Team last season.
Rodriguez has recorded career highs in several statistical categories this season, including goals (20), assists (2) and draw controls (26). Rodriguez has scored at least one goal in 11 of her last 12 games and has two or more goals in six contests this season. She was an all-conference second team honoree in 2010.
Tumolo is Syracuse's leading scorer this season with 60 points. She also leads the team in assists with 33, which tie for the fifth-highest single-season total in school history. Tumolo ranks 11th in the nation in assists and assists per game (1.94). She also leads the team with a career-high 13 caused turnovers.
Webster has scored at least one goal in 15 of 17 games in 2011, finishing the regular season with 31. She ranks second on the team in goals and third in scoring with 34 points. Webster recorded three or more goals five times in 2011, including a season-high six against Virginia.
Block started every game on defense for the Orange, helping SU hold its opponents to less than 10 goals nine times. She has recorded career highs in draw controls (24), ground balls (16) and caused turnovers (8).
No. 15 Syracuse is the No. 2 seed in the BIG EAST Tournament, which begins Thursday, May 5 at Georgetown University. The Orange takes on No. 9 Loyola, the No. 3 seed, in the first semifinal at 5:30 p.m. The game will be televised live by CBS Sports Network.
