Galloway Named MLL Rookie of the Week

BOSTON – Former Syracuse lacrosse star and current Rochester Rattlers goalie John Galloway was named the Cascade Major League Lacrosse (MLL) Rookie of the Week on Monday, July 18. Galloway made a season-high 19 saves to lead Rochester to its first win of the season, a 9-8 triumph over the Denver Outlaws, on July 16.
Galloway allowed a season-low eight goals in the contest, including one in the second quarter, as the Rattlers built a 4-3 lead at the intermission. Five of his 19 saves came in the fourth quarter to help the Rattlers seal the victory.
Galloway made his pro debut on June 10 against Hamilton and he has started every game since. In six professional outings, Galloway owns a 14.45 goals-against average and a .512 save percentage.
A two-time, first-team All-American with the Orange, Galloway won back-to-back national championships in 2008 and 2009. He finished his college career in 2011 as the NCAA's all-time winningest goalie (59 victories) and owns the Syracuse career (7.33) and season (6.90 in 2011) records for goals-against average.
Rochester returns to action on Saturday, July 23 when it hosts Denver at 7 p.m. in Sahlen's Stadium.
