
Chibane and McCabe Named Orange Scholar-Athletes

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Senior Zack Chibane (Parasmus, N.J.) of the football team and junior Lindsay McCabe (Georgetown, Ont.) of the volleyball team are the Syracuse University Scholar-Athletes of the Week for Oct. 1, 2012.
Chibane is one of three returning offensive line starters in 2012, and one of 11 players to start every contest in 2011. He has recorded consecutive starts in every game this season, serving as one of the four game captains in the home opener against Northwestern.Â
The 2011 BIG EAST All-Academic selection was a member of the 2010 Fall and 2011 Fall and Spring Athletic Director's Honor Roll. Chibane is majoring in political science in the College of Arts and Sciences.
McCabe has totaled 54 kills, 3 assists and 6 digs during the 2012 season. The 2012 Preseason All-BIG EAST selection was named to the All Tournament Team in the Iowa State Tournament, after posting a team-high five blocks. She was selected to the 2011 All-BIG EAST second team, as well named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for the week of Nov. 14, 2011. McCabe is double majoring in math and biology in the College of Arts and Sciences.
Chibane and the rest of the Orange football team (1-3, 0-0 BIG EAST) will host Pittsburg in its BIG EAST opener on Friday, Oct. 5 at 7 p.m. in the Carrier Dome. Tickets are available online, in person at the Carrier Dome Box Office (Gate B), or by calling the 1-888-DOMETIX. McCabe and the volleyball team (8-10, 0-3 BIG EAST) will host USF and PITT at home in the Women's building on Friday, Oct. 5 at 12 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 7 at 12 p.m.
