SYRACUSE, N.Y. – College Sports Madness, in conjunction with USA Today, has recognized Jenna Caira as the softball National Pitcher of the Week for her performance at the Citrus Classic.
Caria was a perfect 3-0 in the circle with all of her wins coming against nationally ranked opponents (No. 24 North Carolina, No. 15 Baylor and No. 11 Baylor). She struck out 17 batters in 20 innings of work, while allowing just 13 hits. She had a 1.05 ERA in the three games.
Caira is now 6-3 on the season with a 2.35 ERA. She is SU's all-time leader in wins with 76 and in strikeouts with 825.
Syracuse defeated back-to-back nationally-ranked opponents for the first time in program history this past weekend. The Orange also knocked off three ranked teams in one weekend for the first time ever.
