
Chibane And Hursey: Scholar Athletes

Zack Chibane from the football team and Katie Hursey from the women's track and field team are the Syracuse University Scholar Athletes of the Week for April 16, 2012.
Chibane (Paramus, N.J.) is a junior majoring in political science. He has been named to the SU Athletic Director's Honor Roll three times and was one of a record 28 football student-athletes named to the BIG EAST All-Academic team in 2011.
On the field last season for the Orange, Chibane was one of 11 players to start all 12 games, and blocked for 1,000-yard rusher Antwon Bailey.
Hursey (Hampstead, Md.) is a graduate student majoring in physical education. She is a nine-time selection to the SU Athletic Director's Honor Roll and was named to the BIG EAST All-Academic Team in each of the past four seasons.
Hursey, the school record holder in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (10:08.44) competed in the same event at the Stanford Invitational in Palo Alto, Calif. two weeks ago, finishing as the second highest collegiate competitor with a time of 10:18.19.
The football team will end Spring Practice on Saturday with the squad's annual Spring Game at 12:00 p.m. in the Carrier Dome. Admission is free to the public. The track team will be in action this weekend at the Larry Ellis Invitational in Princeton, N.J. and Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif.
