Morey Mossovitz, assistant director of athletics for facilities and event operations, has been named the Distinguished Young Alumnus of the St. Paul's School in Brooklandville, Md. Mossovitz, a 2004 graduate of St. Paul's, joined the SU Department of Athletics in the fall of 2010.
The Distinguished Young Alumnus Award is presented to an individual who has graduated from St. Paul's within the last ten years, and who has demonstrated commitment to the School and early professional success.
"St. Paul's has meant so much to me over the years," Mossovitz said. "It was the place where I literally grew up; I was a student at SP from first grade through graduation. St. Paul's taught me about pride, respect and hard work. I have tried to carry these qualities into my professional life. To be honored by an institution such as St. Paul's is hard to put into words. So many of my fellow alumni are talented and dedicated individuals, so to be chosen for this award means a great deal to me. I can only hope that my current achievement is my first step in honoring my alma mater that has given so much to me."
After serving as a member of the Stevenson Educational Center staff, Mossovitz was promoted to his current position in the summer of 2011. His duties include providing administrative support to Pete Sala, senior associate athletics director for operations/Carrier Dome, oversight, and facility operations management for athletic facilities and Olympic sport contests. In addition, he is responsible for home-game management for the Lampe Athletics Complex venues (field hockey and soccer), the Skytop Softball Stadium, and select Carrier Dome events.
"Morey's outstanding work ethic and attention to detail have been vital to our success," Sala said. "He has been a valuable asset to the athletic department."
Mossovitz also coordinates schedules and utilities for Manley Field House, the outdoor track, Coyne Stadium, the Soccer Stadium, the football and lacrosse practice fields, Hookway Fields, and the Carmelo K. Anthony Basketball Center.
Mossovitz earned his bachelor's degree in Psychology with a minor in educational studies from Syracuse University in 2008. He received his Master's degree from Syracuse in student affairs counseling in 2010.
While attending Syracuse, Mossovitz worked as a manager and then served as a graduate assistant for the men's lacrosse program, which won the 2008 and 2009 national championships during his tenure. He also served as the assistant director of Syracuse Men's Lacrosse Summer Programs and was a production supervisor in the Carrier Dome.
Mossovitz will be honored at the Alumni Memorial Service and Award Ceremony on May 4 at 5:30 p.m. Click here for more information.
